After graduating high school, I had planned to either waste time until I was old enough to apply for the police academy or possibly find a career in ministry as I had fallen in love with teaching and sharing my faith. I figured I could make an impact and live a life I had desired with either of those careers. However, I was advised to attend seminary with the time I had as it would help discern a call to ministry and train me to be better as a person, a member of society, and as a Christian; and it did just that.

In the summer after freshman year, I took an ethics class and a class over the great books of early western civilization. In the ethics class we studied current social and ethical issues and analyzed them through the lens of the Bible. In the Great Books of Early Western Civilization class, we studied the works of Homer, Plato, Aristotle, and more. It was during these classes that I found a love for ethics, philosophy, and politics. One of the degrees the school offers is the Bachelor of Arts in Humanities, which is essentially a degree that studied influential literature from early western civilization to current day along side the school’s core classes in theology, church history, and critical thinking. After that summer, I immediately changed degrees from Intercultural Studies to Humanities.

It was at this time I also began studying about advocacy and the legal profession. I was introduced to groups like the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission and Alliance Defending Freedom where I saw people fighting for things I cared about and doing so for the glory of God. I had decided that the police academy was no longer the route I would take after college, neither was vocational ministry, but that I was bound for law school. I believe that I can best serve others with a Juris Doctor degree, that with this degree, I can both practice law professionally and do so as ministry, serving others in and through the legal field.

My desire for the future, though I know I may make plans, but it is God who establishes my steps, (Proverbs 16:9) is that I will not only work and serve in the legal field, but that I will also be able to teach and disciple others just as I was in high school and have been throughout my undergraduate education. The reason I created this blog is to log my journey and do so in a way that I can hold myself accountable, share my thoughts, and keep those who have poured into me throughout the years up to date and included. I also wanted to build a platform where others who are interested can see into my journey as a young Christian man going through law school and be inspired by the ways God has blessed me along this journey. I am thankful for where I am today and for the ways God seems to be using me, I pray that through this blog you see his name glorified and his kingdom served well. Thank you for coming, I hope you stay awhile!
